Cath Anne: [00:01:09] Now remember, everyones life as a freelance writer or freelance content creator or artist creative its going to look a little bit different. And this is just me sharing my experience with you. So Im really hoping that this will be helpful to some of you who might be interested. Cath Anne: [00:01:28] OK. So a little bit about me just to kick things off. I am as you may know I am the weekly host of The Homework Help Show here at Homework Help Global and I am also a writer for Homework Help Global. However I do also have my own small content creation company and I work for myself from home. Cath Anne: [00:01:54] Which I absolutely love. Now it does come with some challenges because I do have to navigate many responsibilities and many requirements from a multiple multiplicity of clients. So that certainly does come with some challenges however it does allow me some flexibility and creativity which is something that I am so grateful for and that I absolutely love. Cath Anne: [00:02:21] So now lets jump into how I spend my day as a freelance writer. OK. So I usually start my day my waking up to the smell of coffee. I set my coffee pot. For the night before and. I wake up at around six forty five to the smell of fresh brewed coffee. And that just absolutely sets my day off to a good start. I do. I love coffee. However the smell of it. Theres something about it thats so aromatic and beautiful and it just helps me wake up in the morning. However I dont begin my day by having a cup of coffee. I first have a big glass of water to hydrate my body and to get my digestion system going in the morning while Im having my glass of water. I helped my partner to prepare for work and get him off and out the door. Then I sit down with my cup of coffee. And then I have my smoothie. Now what do I add into my smoothie. So I always have a healthy smoothie every morning. I put a plant based protein powder in to begin with I add some berries. Sometimes a banana. Th en I add in some maca root powder some actual up which are two hormone balancers and adapted genes. I then add in some probiotic and probiotics or sometimes some flax seed and my probiotic powder. And then then top it off with some almond milk and put it in my blender and I drink away. Cath Anne: [00:04:12] So while I am enjoying my coffee and my smoothie that is when I do some personal development reading and Ive started this practice every morning and I usually do it for about five to 10 minutes just while Im enjoying my coffee and while I am having my smoothie because it sets the tone for my day and Ive created a little bit of a ritual for myself in the morning. So I am currently reading this book by Stephen King on writing and it is his take on his writing process. So this is a wonderful book for a writer and I highly recommend it. This is the second time I am reading it. So Im loving it. Cath Anne: [00:04:52] So if you know me you will know that I always have one to two books on the go at one time. So in addition to the Stephen King book I am also reading a book called you do you by Sarah Knight. Im not sure if that will pick up on the screen. There we go. Maybe well put a little link to it in later. But it is also a personal development book and it is how to be who you are and use what youve got to get what you want. So it is all about being who you are and embracing who you are and using that in your personal and professional goals. So I am really loving that read. I highly recommend it. Its super motivational and inspirational. Cath Anne: [00:05:41] OK. So once I finished my smoothie and my coffee and done my personal development reading I then move on to doing a light meditation. So I usually meditate for between five to 10 minutes per day and each morning. And this just helps to set my mind set for the day and guide me through the day. So Ive developed this practice of meditation and its been very helpful for me. Sometimes I use a guided meditation on YouTube or a meditation app and then other times I simply focus on a mantra and focus on my breathing. Cath Anne: [00:06:19] And that is the type of meditation that Ive found most effective to me. Now if you want to bring this into your life I would recommend kind of experimenting with different forms of meditation and figure out which one works best for you. And just to share with you my mantra lately has been expect nothing and appreciate everything. Cath Anne: [00:06:40] So as I take my deep breath in deep breath out. Those are the words that I focus on. And my mantra will change depending on what I am personally and professionally working on. Cath Anne: [00:06:53] Finally before I get into my work day I make sure that I always get some exercise in. Now this might look like doing a yoga flow or a few yoga flows doing an online yoga class going to a yoga class in my community. This might also like look like doing a hit workout which Ive really been loving lately. Or it might look like going for a run now that the weather has finally gotten a little bit better. I have been going out for runs in the evening so I have switched up my morning routine and I think that is a good thing to bear in mind that although you might set a morning routine and that it is beneficial to have some sort of routine especially when youre working from home. You can switch it up. So because the weather has been nicer I have been going for runs or going to a yoga class in the evening so that I get a chance to enjoy the weather as well. Cath Anne: [00:07:53] Once I complete my morning routine I move on to my workday. The first thing I do when I begin my day is I look at my passion planner and I check and see what I have scheduled for that specific day. So Ill go through and Ill look and see what I have scheduled for my day after I look at my passion planner and I figure out any scheduling conflicts and address them. Cath Anne: [00:08:21] I move on to my more skin notebook and what I do is I go into my most scan notebook and I make a list of tasks that I want to complete for that particular day. So that list is based on what I have already scheduled for my day and my passion planner. So I really like this two step method of organization because the passion planner helps me to organize my time. I also do use google calendar as well as Apple calendar on my phone so that I can keep track of meetings and that it will alert me on my phone when I have something coming up. But I am also a fan of using a physical agenda which is why I have the passion planner on hand as well and I really like to make a daily To Do list in my most notebook because theres something just so tactile about having something physical that you can keep on hand and check things off as you go along through your day. Cath Anne: [00:09:26] And I love to have my mosque scan notebook on hand because it helps me to make my to do list and check things off as I go throughout my day. Cath Anne: [00:09:36] So when I begin my workday and I make my to do list I focus on three major tasks for the day. This is because I want to maximize my time and be most productive but also keep my goals for the day manageable. Cath Anne: [00:09:53] Managing three goals and three major tasks per day is the best way to manage your time because it is certainly attainable to accomplish three goals in one day. So for example today on my list is to film one video for homework help create content and write copy for a local client and attend a workshop in the afternoon around sales and marketing. So those are my three goals for today. And I will write them down here in my to do list. Cath Anne: [00:10:27] Now each time I complete a task I take a colored pen and I check that baby off and that is because it helps me to stay motivated when I can see in a bright color usually pink is what I use that I have completed a task. It just keeps you motivated throughout the day and keeps me wanting to work on those goals. Cath Anne: [00:10:48] Now when I sit down to do my work I use two strategies. First I track my time using an application called toggle and Ill bring it up on my phone. Not sure if youll be able to see it but we will link it in the description box the toggle application helps me to track my time so I can track my time based on each task and it just gives me an overall idea and an overall sense of how much time I am spending on each task per week. At the end of the week toggle will send me a rundown a report of how much time Ive spent on each task moving forward. I can then take that information and plan my weeks ahead accordingly. This also allows me to track my time for my clients so if there are any clients that I have that I bill on an hourly basis. Toggle is a great application to use because I can keep track of my time and build them accordingly. Similarly it also gives me an idea of how much time I am spending on tasks throughout the day. Now there may be times where l spend th ree hours on a task and only work three hours per day. However each day I do like to spend at least five to six solid hours of work so toggle will help me to track that and keep an eye on how much work I am actually doing in the day. The second strategy that I use is I use the timer on my phone when I sit down to do a task. I set the timer for twenty five minutes. Cath Anne: [00:12:26] Now this is called the pomodoro method and we have talked about it a lot on The Homework Help Show. If youre interested in learning more specifics around the pomodoro method we will link one of our episodes so you can check that out. Essentially the pomodoro method is a way to maximize productivity. You set your timer for twenty five minutes and work flat out for twenty five minutes. Then take a five minute break. Reset the timer for twenty five minutes after the five minute break and work for another twenty five minutes. I find this method has been super productive for me before I know it and now has passed and Ive maintained a consistent workflow and Im able to check off some of those to dos. Now after I make my to do list for the day I check my emails for follow up and note if I have to send any emails I find that slotting time once in the morning and once in the evening for emails is most effective. If Im checking my emails throughout the day I tend to get distracted and this takes me away from my work by scheduling a time in the morning and in the evening to check my emails and respond. Im then able to put a strict focus on my work through my work day. Cath Anne: [00:13:45] Now if I have any calls interviews or meetings to attend I always schedule those for the afternoon. This takes advantage of the bodys natural circadian rhythm. You know that afternoon slump that you get where you just need a little piece of chocolate or maybe a second coffee to give yourself a boost while scheduling meetings or interviews or conversations in the afternoon around 2:00 or 3:00 oclock means that your brain will be stimulated in a different way because its encouraging conversation and engagement. Instead of sitting in front of your computer typing away like you do in the morning scheduling these types of events in the afternoon is a great way to take advantage of your bodys natural rhythms. So for example today I mentioned that I have three things on my list filming this video creating some content for a local client and attending a workshop and it just so happens that that workshop will be from 2:00 to 4:00 in the afternoon and Im looking so forwa rd to that each day as a freelancer looks different and I plan them accordingly. Cath Anne: [00:14:56] One tip that I would give to folks interested in getting into freelancing is to schedule one day a week where you focus on finances now finances might not be your favorite thing to do. However it is very important. As a freelancer to make sure you are in control of your finances. Every Friday morning I schedule a slotted time. Specific to working on my finances. I produce invoices check on my weekly finances and to do my budget for the month. I also look at things like taxes and my projects my projected income for the year. This just helps me to keep a handle on my finances and know where I am in terms of my small business. I love the flexibility of a freelance lifestyle. Cath Anne: [00:15:53] And I love the ability to plan my days as I see fit. I like to start my work. Cath Anne: [00:16:00] In early in the day and then finish around 5:00 p.m. So I have my evenings free. And as I mentioned I always like to get at least five to six solid work hours in her day. And I track that using my toggle at. Once Im finished for the day I complete my day by reading. Exercising and enjoying some quality time with my partner and my cats. Cath Anne: [00:06:53] Finally before I get into my work day I make sure that I always get some exercise in. Now this might look like doing a yoga flow or a few yoga flows doing an online yoga class going to a yoga class in my community. This might also like look like doing a hit workout which Ive really been loving lately. Or it might look like going for a run now that the weather has finally gotten a little bit better. I have been going out for runs in the evening so I have switched up my morning routine and I think that is a good thing to bear in mind that although you might set a morning routine and that it is beneficial to have some sort of routine especially when youre working from home. You can switch it up. So because the weather has been nicer I have been going for runs or going to a yoga class in the evening so that I get a chance to enjoy the weather as well. Cath Anne: [00:07:53] Once I complete my morning routine I move on to my workday. The first thing I do when I begin my day is I look at my passion planner and I check and see what I have scheduled for that specific day. So Ill go through and Ill look and see what I have scheduled for my day after I look at my passion planner and I figure out any scheduling conflicts and address them. Cath Anne: [00:08:21] I move on to my more skin notebook and what I do is I go into my most scan notebook and I make a list of tasks that I want to complete for that particular day. So that list is based on what I have already scheduled for my day and my passion planner. So I really like this two step method of organization because the passion planner helps me to organize my time. I also do use google calendar as well as Apple calendar on my phone so that I can keep track of meetings and that it will alert me on my phone when I have something coming up. But I am also a fan of using a physical agenda which is why I have the passion planner on hand as well and I really like to make a daily To Do list in my most notebook because theres something just so tactile about having something physical that you can keep on hand and check things off as you go along through your day. Cath Anne: [00:09:26] And I love to have my mosque scan notebook on hand because it helps me to make my to do list and check things off as I go throughout my day. Cath Anne: [00:09:36] So when I begin my workday and I make my to do list I focus on three major tasks for the day. This is because I want to maximize my time and be most productive but also keep my goals for the day manageable. Cath Anne: [00:09:53] Managing three goals and three major tasks per day is the best way to manage your time because it is certainly attainable to accomplish three goals in one day. So for example today on my list is to film one video for homework help create content and write copy for a local client and attend a workshop in the afternoon around sales and marketing. So those are my three goals for today. And I will write them down here in my to do list. Cath Anne: [00:10:27] Now each time I complete a task I take a colored pen and I check that baby off and that is because it helps me to stay motivated when I can see in a bright color usually pink is what I use that I have completed a task. It just keeps you motivated throughout the day and keeps me wanting to work on those goals. Cath Anne: [00:10:48] Now when I sit down to do my work I use two strategies. First I track my time using an application called toggle and Ill bring it up on my phone. Not sure if youll be able to see it but we will link it in the description box the toggle application helps me to track my time so I can track my time based on each task and it just gives me an overall idea and an overall sense of how much time I am spending on each task per week. At the end of the week toggle will send me a rundown a report of how much time Ive spent on each task moving forward. I can then take that information and plan my weeks ahead accordingly. This also allows me to track my time for my clients so if there are any clients that I have that I bill on an hourly basis. Toggle is a great application to use because I can keep track of my time and build them accordingly. Similarly it also gives me an idea of how much time I am spending on tasks throughout the day. Now there may be times where l spend th ree hours on a task and only work three hours per day. However each day I do like to spend at least five to six solid hours of work so toggle will help me to track that and keep an eye on how much work I am actually doing in the day. The second strategy that I use is I use the timer on my phone when I sit down to do a task. I set the timer for twenty five minutes. Cath Anne: [00:12:26] Now this is called the pomodoro method and we have talked about it a lot on The Homework Help Show. If youre interested in learning more specifics around the pomodoro method we will link one of our episodes so you can check that out. Essentially the pomodoro method is a way to maximize productivity. You set your timer for twenty five minutes and work flat out for twenty five minutes. Then take a five minute break. Reset the timer for twenty five minutes after the five minute break and work for another twenty five minutes. I find this method has been super productive for me before I know it and now has passed and Ive maintained a consistent workflow and Im able to check off some of those to dos. Now after I make my to do list for the day I check my emails for follow up and note if I have to send any emails I find that slotting time once in the morning and once in the evening for emails is most effective. If Im checking my emails throughout the day I tend to get distracted and this takes me away from my work by scheduling a time in the morning and in the evening to check my emails and respond. Im then able to put a strict focus on my work through my work day. Cath Anne: [00:13:45] Now if I have any calls interviews or meetings to attend I always schedule those for the afternoon. This takes advantage of the bodys natural circadian rhythm. You know that afternoon slump that you get where you just need a little piece of chocolate or maybe a second coffee to give yourself a boost while scheduling meetings or interviews or conversations in the afternoon around 2:00 or 3:00 oclock means that your brain will be stimulated in a different way because its encouraging conversation and engagement. Instead of sitting in front of your computer typing away like you do in the morning scheduling these types of events in the afternoon is a great way to take advantage of your bodys natural rhythms. So for example today I mentioned that I have three things on my list filming this video creating some content for a local client and attending a workshop and it just so happens that that workshop will be from 2:00 to 4:00 in the afternoon and Im looking so forwa rd to that each day as a freelancer looks different and I plan them accordingly. Cath Anne: [00:14:56] One tip that I would give to folks interested in getting into freelancing is to schedule one day a week where you focus on finances now finances might not be your favorite thing to do. However it is very important. As a freelancer to make sure you are in control of your finances. Every Friday morning I schedule a slotted time. Specific to working on my finances. I produce invoices check on my weekly finances and to do my budget for the month. I also look at things like taxes and my projects my projected income for the year. This just helps me to keep a handle on my finances and know where I am in terms of my small business. I love the flexibility of a freelance lifestyle. Cath Anne: [00:15:53] And I love the ability to plan my days as I see fit. I like to start my work. Cath Anne: [00:16:00] In early in the day and then finish around 5:00 p.m. So I have my evenings free. And as I mentioned I always like to get at least five to six solid work hours in her day. And I track that using my toggle at. Once Im finished for the day I complete my day by reading. Exercising and enjoying some quality time with my partner and my cats. The concern with college athlete’s receiving workers compensation is they would be considered pro athletes. Athletic scholarships do not always cover the cost of tuition and living expenses for a student to attend college. They may indeed help with lowering the cost of the total amount owed, but more times than not college athletes have to take out loans in order to pay for the full amount of their college tuition. Student athletes should be paid because they have no extra time to earn extra money; it would decrease the rate in which athletes receive improper benefits; and all athletes should receive workers compensation for playing sports for their institution. The NCAA is a private, nonprofit association consisting of over 1000 institutions (Goldman, 209). To be a member of the NCAA the institution has to be an academically accredited college or university located within the United States and its territories (Goldman, 209). Regular members are classified into divisions, such as: Division I, Division II, and Division III, to reflect differences in size of the athletic programs (Goldman, 209). They had murdered the Roman leader in an effort to save the Republic from Caesar’s aspirations for sole power† (McGill, Sarah Ann) In spring of 44 BCE Augustus formerly known as Gaius Julius Caesar Octavianus, or Octavious for short, became ruler of Rome. Adopted by Julius Caesar after traveling alongside him for many years and throughout many battles, being the only male relative and it being written in Caesars will, Augustus was heir to the throne and quickly began making an impact on roman society. â€Å"Caesar Augustus rose from near obscurity to become the most powerful man Rome had ever seen, and he became perhaps the single most important figure in Rome’s long history. † (Sizgorich, Tom. â€Å"Augustus) Starting his reign at age 18, very young and inexperienced he would have to gain the trust and support of the empire as a whole. Very intuitively and keen, he started at the base of it all, the people. Initiating public games loved by them as a source of entertainment, when a comet flew by on the first day, everyone took it as Caesar’s soul ascending to the heavens, this greatly helped win his popularity among his great uncles army he left and also made him allies within the senate. But with allies, would come opponents, one man in particular, Mark Antony, whom was a close ally with Caesar and fought against the party that assassinated him. Tensions between the two were short after they formed a group to eliminate opposing forces such as the one that killed Caesar, lead by Marcus Brutus and Gaius Cassius Longinus. â€Å"The alliance between Antony and Octavian could not last, however; after the defeat of the conspirators, Octavian set about building a base of support for himself among the Romans, anticipating the confrontation with Antony that he knew would come. † (Sizgorich, Tom. â€Å"Augustus) â€Å"Octavian began preparing to confront Antony. Antony had angered many Romans because of his relationship with the queen of Egypt, Cleopatra. Octavian took advantage of this anger to gain further support against Antony. † (â€Å"Augustus, Caesar Octavianus. † Ancient Greece and Rome) Acute and sharp as he was, Augustus began to realize the roman public was outraged that Antony had been willingly manipulated by queen Cleopatra of Egypt. He set out to defeat Antony and Cleopatra’s army. When he finally did so, the couple committed suicide and allowed Augustus to finally have full control over all of Rome. He did not want to rule as his uncle did, so in order to convince the public and senate he would not do so he, articulated the â€Å"Princep† title. Deriving from Latin meaning â€Å"first citizen† suggesting that he held only the same power as all others in the senate, but no one was to be above him in ruling. Augustus wasted no time as sole leader of Rome, he extended the borders, instituted construction of new buildings, water systems and roads. He maintained public order and law, supported writers such as Virgil and Livy to bring back more traditional Roman values, and introduced a new religion to society, â€Å"Christianity. † At one point he offered to relinquish all of his power to the senate, but they would not oblige. In fact they revered him even more and allotted him with the title Augustus, which is when he adopted the name and dropped the name Octavious. Augustus proclaimed that he had â€Å"found Rome a city of bricks and left it a city of marble. † (â€Å"Augustus, Caesar Octavianus. † Ancient Greece and Rome) By the end of his rule, Rome was flourishing, rich and prosperous was the whole empire. Lined with armies protecting all borders, creating a safe environment for all of Rome, it has been deemed â€Å"Rome’s Golden Age† or â€Å"Pax Romana† and was the period in time when the civilization experienced the most peace and prosperity. Augustus passed away in AD 14 and Tiberius took control over Rome as his stepson. It is easy to see how Augustus was named Person of the year, he accomplished more in his lifetime than any other individual I can name Reforming government and military, restoring Roman traditions and values, and vastly expanding the empire. And gaining the love and support of the people, the senate, and the army at the same time, it’s no wonder why the senate held him at the level of a god when he passed. Another consideration is the fact that tourism growth is mostly accompanied by growth in the resident population. It is important to distinguish between criminal acts directed towards the tourists and those committed by the tourists there are many factors that make tourists attractive as targets of crime which include. While crime is primarily an illegal attempt to earn a living, tourism crime is mostly premeditated and about more than just earning a dayà ¯Ã‚ ¿Ã‚ ½s meal. It is about achieving a personal, social, religious or economic obligation either to oneself of to a group. As countries continue to pass laws that simplify the entry and stay of tourists without taking into account the dynamic nature of the human being, it becomes impossible to shield against crimes related to tourists. à ¯Ã‚ ¿Ã‚ ½ Most of the tourists may be usually highly noticeable because of their race, clothing, speech, and even the tendency to carry valuable items such as cameras, backpacks which attract therein criminals. à ¯Ã‚ ¿Ã‚ ½ It is often perceived that tourists are wealthy people and are more likely to be in possession of valuable items. à ¯Ã‚ ¿Ã‚ ½ Tourists are mostly accompanied by tour guides and at times they may be strangers. At times in the destination few people may be aware of their specific activity pattern. For example the murder of Meredith Kerche in Perugia, Italy has had huge media attention in the United Kingdom. It nearly caused a diplomatic spat between the two countries and highlighted how crime is not exclusive to natives. In addition, issues such as drug and tourism, sex tourism as well as other related crime and social disorder among holidaymakers. The high rate of exposure of tourists as targets to criminal activity in some destinations is illustrated by the findings that have seen tourists being stolen of their belongings or property (Schollmeyer, 2003).This social wrongs impact negatively on the national security because negative social behavior such as drug use and sex trade are primary causes of crime. It has also been observed that criminal activities can as well be committed by the tourists themselves, either against the locals or other tourists. Where certain forms of tourism either foster or entail criminal activities, it is the tourist who is usually seen as the lead player in initiating or engaging in some kind of illegal activity-. The most, obvious example invokes forms of tourism, such as those involving certain types of related activity, which are defined as illegal by destination authorities. While tourism activity may be not completely illegal but a strong criminal association may exist. The best example of this indirect relationship is gambling, given the involvement of organized crime cartels in casino businesses. The influx in tourists to these places might raise the economic might of criminals, emboldening them and causing a general rise in the crime rate of the country. Finally, there are those tourist activities that can degenerate into criminal behavior because o f the presence of alcohol, drugs, arguments or stereotypes 2.6 Crime rate in countries that deregulate tourism It is evident that there is high crime rate in countries that deregulate tourism, for example sex tourism industry has increased all over South East of Asia and Burma (Kristiansen Trion, 2005) and the crime rates in South Africa during high tourism seasons is evident. In these regions tourists are highly involved in criminal activities and are often associated with several kinds of human rights abuses, and the spread of HIV/AIDS. For example women and juveniles are often coerced to engage in the sex trade against their will. While these crimes are abetted by locals, it is the presence of tourists with ill-intentions that causes the rise. As observed earlier the impacts of crime on the destination are diverse. Some cases involve crimes related to drug use, whereby the destinationà ¯Ã‚ ¿Ã‚ ½s image becomes blotted resulting in significant decline in tourist demand. On the other hand, theft may occur at tourist destinations where the tourists are at the wrong place at the wrong time. In addition, tourists may contribute to this by engaging in illegal activates or getting involved with criminals. (Magenta, 2009). CHAPTER THREE RESEARCH METHODOLOGY 3.1 Introduction In order to achieve the research objectives a multi-method approach will be adopted, by use of both qualitative and quantitative data collection methods. Quantitative methods will focus on providing a broad statistical measure of the nature, extent and impact of deregulation of tourism on national security using a reasonable sample size. In depth and comprehensive qualitative information will be collected on the impacts of deregulation of security on national security, importation of crime through tourism, comparison between tourism crime and other types of crime. The research will employ questionnaires to collect data from the respondents as one of the data collection tools. Interviews schedules will also be applied to interview the randomly selected sample population. This chapter presents a description of the procedures and methods that the researcher will use in order to obtain the required data needed for the study. It comprises of research design, data collection instruments, the target population, the sampling strategy, and data analysis methods. 3.2 Research design The researcher will employ quantitative research method. The quantitative research design to be used will be a causal comparative design. The causal comparative design will allow the researcher to collect one or more information from one participant. A casual comparative research allows researcher to investigate the possibility of a causal relationship among variables that cannot be manipulated. This research design will be used to establish the factors that influence employee training. 3.3 Target population The target population will involve the immigration departments, tourists and locals of the target country. 3.4 Sampling strategy Simple random sampling techniques will be the methods of data collection from the various departments. The employees will be randomly selected from each department to yield the total sample population. Purposive sampling will be used to select employees who are trained. Purposive sampling is a sampling technique that allows a researcher to use cases that have the required information with respect to the objectives of the study. 3.5 Data collection tools and instruments. The researcher intends to use questionnaires in this study. This is to provide high accuracy and validity of the study. The questionnaire is a convenient tool especially where there are a large number of subjects to be handled. The questionnaire facilitates easy and quick derivation of information within a short time. The information obtained will enable to investigate the impacts of deregulation of tourism on the national security. 3.6.1. T-test T-test will be used to test whether there are significant differences between two mean derived from the samples of groups at a specified probability level. 3.6.2 Chi-square Chi-square is a statistical technique which attempts to establish the relationship between two variables both of which are categorical in nature. The technique compares the proportion observed in each category with what would be expected under the assumptions of independence between the two variables. CHAPTER FOUR DISSECTION 4.1 Data analysis The researcher will establish whether all questionnaires are all completed. Data collected from open ended and closed questions will be coded for analysis purpose. Descriptive and inferential statistics will be used in data analysis. The data will be analyzed using the statistical package for the social sciences (SPSS). The descriptive statistics which will be used in analysis includes means, frequencies, percentages and standard deviation. The inferential statistics that will be used in data analysis will be chi-square and T-test for independent samples. 4.2 Expected results It is expected that this research will yield results that show an upsurge in crime levels in countries that have liberalized tourism industry. In some countries with more stringent practices and therefore less tourism traffic, it is obvious that the crimes related with tourism will be less. This is a wake-up call to all legislators to take necessary precaution when passing laws that deregulate the market and give the players a free-hand to do what they want. National security should take priority over economic gain.
